Does the Dramatists Guild provide health insurance?
When we made the decision to own our own copyright, we also made a decision on what kind of organization we are. The Dramatists Guild is a trade organization. Under federal law, we are not considered employees, but property owners. Therefore, we are cannot legally unionize because - legally - we are not a union. This is the primary reason that we are unable to provide health insurance to our members.
However, while we are unable to provide health insurance, we are still able to assist members who are in dire situations. As a member of the Guild, you have access to the programs and services of the Actors Fund. For information on their health benefits, please visit their
